Jan 22,  · “Almanac” opens with simply one of the best songs I’ve ever heard- “Perennials”- Widowspeak at their best. Trippy instrumentation so expertly performed by Robert Earl Thomas and that unbelievably ethereal vocal by partner Molly Hamilton whose style is reminiscent of Mazzy Star’s Hope Sandoval and Miranda Lee Richardson who was once affiliated with The Brian Jonestown Massacre /5(15).

Feb 18,  · Minnewaska is arguably best of all. Superficially a midnight fireside song between lovers escaping to the country, replete with background cricket noise, it warps to an uncertain end via a creepy looming backing vocal and lyric “it’s ok to be afraid / I know where to go where we can be alone” to more suit a victim/murderer dynamic.

Instead of trying to recreate previous highs like "Harsh Realm," Widowspeak take the spooky allure of their debut album in a more traditional direction on larentchesnibohavridocroupumaspe.coinfo a fuller, more polished sound courtesy of producer Kevin McMahon, Molly Hamilton and Robert Earl Thomas go beyond the Hope Sandoval and Mazzy Star influences of Widowspeak and instead draw inspiration from one of rock's original.
