Both Sides of an Evening is usually cited as the place where the Everly Brothers' music and career started to go wrong. Their relationship with their longtime producer and publisher, Wesley Rose, had fallen apart in late amid a conflict over copyrights, specifically their decision to record as a single an old Nacio Herb Brown/Arthur Freed song called "Temptation" that he didn't publish.

The two-LP-on-one-CD Both Sides of an Evening/Instant Party doesn't have nearly the level of interest of its companion volume (It's Everly Time/A Date With the Everly Brothers), and it is definitely not the place to start hearing the Everly Brothers' Warner Bros. sides. But it does have just enough good quality (and little-heard) album tracks to make it worthwhile for serious fans.

History is on our side and though we have lost Phil, history has been on the side of The Everly Brothers. BOTH SIDES OF AN EVENING is a terrific album and it is back in warm analog vinyl once again for you! I still have the original vinyl, full of scratches, wear and tear, the cover edges separating and the color fading/5(12).

BOTH SIDES OF AN EVENING, released in , has actually aged well considering it was somewhat of a flop in ’61, due in no part to The Everly Brothers or their talent. Phil and Don were at the peak of their success after a run of hits with Cadence Records and the fully weighted support of Chet Atkins (who also plays guitar with them on this album)/5(13).

Don't blame me. Can't you see, when you do the things you do If I can't conceal, the thrill that I'm feel - ing Don't blame me. I can't help it, if that dog-goned - moon above Makes me need, someone like you - to love. Blame your kiss, as sweet as a kiss can be And blame all your charms, that melt in my arms But don't blame me.
